Wright State excited for NCAA matchup against Ohio State Buckeyes

Wright State baseball players figured they might meet Ohio State in their NCAA tournament opener because of the proximity of the teams, but they still let out a fist-pumping roar Monday when they saw the pairing on ESPNU while gathered with about 100 supporters at TJ Chumps.

“It’s definitely exciting,” said outfielder Ryan Fucci, who has a team-leading 11 homers and 59 RBIs. “Ohio State, everybody knows them. They think that’s Ohio’s team. But we want to be the best in Ohio.

“Once we get out there, it’ll just be us against the ball. Hopefully, we can play a hard nine innings and come out with a victory.”

The Raiders (44-15) will face the Big Ten champions (43-18-1) in an NCAA regional at Louisville at 2 p.m. Friday.
