Major Kettering Construction Project Moves Into Phase 2

The majority of construction work on Dorothy Lane-Wilmington Pike is complete and the project is now entering Phase 2, but delays on the busy intersection will remain an issue through the end of summer, according to the city of Kettering’s engineering department.

Reconstruction on the east side of Wilmington Pike and the south side of Dorothy Lane has been completed and motorists will be traveling on new pavement on northbound Wilmington and eastbound Dorothy Lane.

Phase 2 involves reconstruction work on the middle sections of both Dorothy and Wilmington, and is expected to take four to six weeks to complete. Work on the third and final phase of construction will begin early this summer, and will be complete by the end of summer.

Other projects on Kettering roadways this summer include:

• South Dixie resurfacing: In the vicinity of South Dixie and Dorothy Lane. Project began in 2010 and will be complete by early summer.

• Dorothy Lane resurfacing: Entire length of Dorothy Lane. Phase 1 will be from Bobbie Place to County Line Road. Begins in early summer and is expected to be completed by fall. Phase 2 will begin later in the summer from Haig Avenue to Berkley Street and may not be complete until spring 2012.

• Wilmington Pike resurfacing: South of Stroop to the Dorothy-Wilmington project limits. Begins this month and is expected to be completed by the end of summer.

• Woodman Drive-Patterson Road-Research Boulevard intersection reconstruction: Projects includes new pavement, curb, sidewalks, storm sewer, street lighting, and a new traffic signal. Additional turn lanes in all directions will be added for increased traffic capacity. Begins this month and will be complete in summer 2012.

• Forrer Boulevard resurfacing: Between Whitlock Place and Woodman Drive. Begins in early summer and will be completed by the end of summer.

• Traffic signal replacements: Eight traffic signals will be replaced with new mast-arm style signals, mostly on Wilmington Pike, Dorothy Lane, Woodman Drive and West Stroop Road.
