Man denies charges of rape, sexual battery

A man denied charges accusing him of having sex with a woman against her will in an incident for which authorities said they have videotape evidence.

Edward Shawn Robinson, 35, was arraigned Tuesday in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on two counts of rape with an impaired person, two counts of sexual battery and one count of gross sexual imposition. Robinson pleaded not guilty. Bond was set at $500,000.

County prosecutors allege Robinson videotaped himself having sex with the victim sometime between December 2010 and February 2011.

The rape allegations come as Robinson was already in the Shelby County Jail on a charge of possession of a dangerous ordnance.

While executing a search warrant in the ordnance case, authorities found the video evidence of the sexual assault at Robinson’s residence on Orchard Run in Miami Twp., sheriff’s Maj. David Hale said.
