Man Shot During Craigslist Robbery

Trotwood police are looking for two men who shot a man in the face during a Craigslist purchase.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Gardendale Avenue and Watkins Place around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

A man and his girlfriend drove to Gardendale Ave. in Trotwood with plans to see a dirt bike to a Craigslist shopper.

But those shoppers, turned out to be shooters.

The woman called 911 and said, "He's shot in the face."

The 911 dispatcher said, "What?"

"He's shot in the face. My friend," said the woman.

The dispather said, "And you don't know who did it?

The caller said, "I have no idea."

Police said the woman drove the victim to Gardendale Avenue and Swinger Drive to get away from the area.

One suspect rode away on a bike he brought with him and the other one took off on the stoken bike, which was found a short time later dumped outside a liquor store on Salem Ave., about four miles away.

However, the Craigslist robbers were gone.

Sgt. Brent Rasor said, "There's been a lot of robberies going on right now with Craigslist."

The victim was released from Miami Valley Hospital on Thursday. His name was not released but we confirmed that he is the stepson of a Dayton police officer. .

Sgt. Rasor advised people to be very careful when selling items on the popular website that allows free online classified postings.

Sgt. Brent Razor said, "If you're going to order, buy or sell, be extremely causious if you're selling vehicles or anything that's got value to it."
