A 40-year-old man was taken to the hospital after suffering “significant burn injuries” Wednesday from a fire in a duplex on Ramsey Court in Hamilton.

Hamilton Fire Chief Mark Mercer said the fire broke out at around 8:30 p.m. and his crews doused the flames quickly. He said the man was in a bedroom and taken first to Fort Hamilton Hospital and then to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

“As far as condition we’ve got an email out, but certainly he survived with us,” Mercer said.

The fire was mainly contained to the bedroom where the man was.

“There was fire damage in that room and some heat damage throughout that unit, but it didn’t burn through the roof and didn’t burn down,” Mercer said. “So it was not a total loss.”

Mercer said the cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not considered suspicious.
