A Miami Valley musician got one of the biggest accolades in country music this weekend.

Two-time BMI Songwriter of the Century Even Stevens was among the inductees for the 45th annual Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame on Sunday in the Music City, according to Music Row.

You'll recognize his 1980s smash hits "I Love a Rainy Night" and "Driving My Life Away," but did you know the composer of Dr. Hook's "When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman" is a Lewistown native and Indian Lake High School Graduate?

The Logan County songwriter was inducted by American country songwriter Hugh Prestwood, and heard his own songs re-interpreted by the band Loving Mary and Paul McDonald, performing "Drivin' My Life Away" and "When You're In Love With a Beautiful Woman," respectively. He celebrated Sunday with his fellow inductees, Mark James, Roseanne Cash, and Craig Wiseman.

Before becoming a prolific American songwriter, Stevens initially dreamt of being a graphic designer, as he told Dayton Daily News writer Russell Florence Jr. in 2013. He started playing guitar at an early age, and kept his music up while serving as a Morse code operator to the U.S. Coast Guard. He moved to Nashville in the 1970s, and amazingly got a song published the first night he was in town. Look out for his new book about his years as a songwriter coming out  this November, titled "Someday, I'm Gonna Rent This Town!"

And the rest, as they say, is history. From Logan County to Music City, Stevens is doing the Miami Valley proud.
