Miamisburg bicentennial: Saturday road closings, free shuttle times

Road closings for the opening of Miamisburg’s eight-day bicentennial celebration will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

At that time, Central Avenue – or Ohio 725 – will close between Lawrence Avenue and Main Street, according to the city. Main will also close at this time between Ferry Street and Linden Avenue, including the Linden intersection.

During the parade, 11th, 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th, 6th, 5th, 4th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st streets will all be blocked at Central until the parade passes. East-, north- and south-bound traffic will resume on these streets after the parade, according to the city.

“We are hopeful this occurs by approximately 2 p.m.,” according to Gary Giles, Miamisburg public information officer.

Signed detours will be posted, he added, and access around Riverfront Park in downtown Miamisburg will close at 11 a.m.

The park along the Great Miami River will be the hub of events, entertainment and music for the 200th birthday celebration, which runs through June 23.

A free shuttle service will be offered throughout the bicentennial celebration.

The shuttle will be centered at the Mound Business Park – which has hundreds of parking spaces – and include seven stops around the city’s downtown, according to bicentennial organizers.

Shuttles will pick up and drop off at: the Mound facility on Mound Avenue; the Miamisburg library at Sixth Street and Linden Avenue; the Miamisburg Community Center on Central Avenue; the Ferry Street parking lot, the Linden and Main Street parking lot, Heritage Village on West Lock Street; and the community parking lot at the Learning Center.

Run times will be Saturday, June 16, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sunday through Friday, June 17-22, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and Saturday, June 23, 8 a.m.-11:30 p.m.
