Dennis Shields, the on-and-off boyfriend of “Real Housewives of New York” star Bethanny Frankel, was found dead of an apparent drug overdose at his apartment in Trump Tower Friday, law enforcement confirmed to WNBC.
Shield’s estranged wife of over 26 years, Jill Shields, released a statement to People.
“We are all heartbroken. Dennis was, and will always be, the love of my life. His spirit lives on in our children. Please respect our family’s privacy at this time,” she said.
Shields’ assistant reportedly administered Narcan, a drug that can reverse the effects an opioid overdose, but was unsuccessful, according to TMZ.
Frankel and Shields’ relationship at the time of his death is unknown.
Shields, 51, was a New York banker who featured as an on-and-off romantic interest of Frankel’s on “The Real Housewives of New York.”
The couple began dating in 2016 -- three years after the Skinnygirl founder filed for divorce from her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy.
