Bison strikes, injures hiker at Theodore Roosevelt National Park

A hiker was hospitalized Saturday after a bison struck her at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, authorities said.

According to KFYR-TV, the incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. MDT as the hiker, a woman from Colorado, was walking along the Lower Paddock Creek Trail. When she reached a prairie dog town, she crossed paths with a bison herd, and one of the animals ran into her, acting Chief Ranger Grant Geis told the station.

The woman, whose name was not released, was flown to a nearby hospital in stable condition, KFYR reported.
