Donald Trump claimed the victory Wednesday morning after what has been one of the most distinct presidential elections in recent history.

Across the country, citizens rejoiced while other citizens mourned.

Among those were celebrities, many of whom had taken to social media before Election Day to voice support for the candidates of their choice. After results of the electoral votes were released, stars took to Twitter to voice their thoughts about the outcome of the election.

Television personality Jesse James and Kirstie Alley congratulated Trump, while actor Chris Evans called the Trump victory "embarrassing ... for America."
