Child rescued after hiding in toy box during house fire

child was rescued by Monroe police officers after hiding in a toy box when a fire broke out at her home Sunday morning, officials said.

Snohomish County fire officials responded to a fire around 9 a.m. at a house in Monroe.

When police arrived, they closed the door to the bedroom where the fire started. An adult, child and dog were able to escape the fire, but one kid was still inside.

A fire medic called out for the girl, and she popped out of a toy box in another room. She was evaluated by medics but had no injuries.

The fire marshal is investigating the cause.
