Four Pennsylvania florists made Friday a rosy day for residents at two senior living centers.

The florists delivered 300 vases of roses to the residents, who are unable to have visitors because of restrictions imposed in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Erie Times-News reported.

"This is such a generous, kind thing to do, especially during this time," said Sonja Leszek, 34, activities coordinator at St. Mary's at Asbury Ridge, who helped to deliver the flowers to residents. "It will bring (our residents) joy. We're very pleased and thankful."

The florists that took part were Gary’s Flower Shoppe in Erie; Larese Floral Design in Erie; Foster’s Rose of Sharon in Wesleyville, and A Floral Affair in Edinboro. They collaborated on the flower designs for the residents at St. Mary’s East and St. Mary’s of Asbury Ridge.

The flowers included also alstroemeria, daisies and carnations, the Times-News reported.

Florist Mary Ropp said delivering the flowers was a way to brighten the day for seniors, who have been unable to connect with their loved ones.

"We were thinking about people who couldn't see their families for the holidays," Ropp, 54, owner of A Floral Affair, told the Times-News. "We wanted to give them a little bit of spring."
