Coronavirus: Landmarks lit for COVID-19 pandemic send message for first responders, reminders

In the U.S., the Empire State Building changed its white lights that shine atop the iconic building to red and white to honor those on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic - the emergency workers who are treating those who have become infected with the virus.

From now until the end of the epidemic, the building will be bathed in lights that represent the "heartbeat of America," WNBC reported.

The lights are accompanied by a white siren light that rotates, which may have had some people in the surrounding area feeling uneasy.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower is lighting up in gold to honor health workers, police, soldiers, even garbage collectors and cashiers, anyone who is still on the job despite the pandemic, Forbes reported.
