Coronavirus: Mark Wahlberg helps donate 1,100 tablets to Detroit-area hospitals

Mark Wahlberg is helping isolated coronavirus patients keep in touch with their families during treatment.

According to WXYZ, the actor's Wahlberg Youth Foundation and Feldman Automotive, a Michigan group of car dealerships, recently provided 1,100 tablets to the Royal Oak-based Beaumont Health System.

"It's just a natural thing to be able to give if we're in a position to," Wahlberg told WXYZ, adding that he wanted to "give thanks to all the brave men and women who are working there."

Jay Feldman of Feldman Automotive said the tablets will help patients feel less alone.

"When you're in the hospital, you're in the emergency room, you want to be surrounded by somebody," he told WXYZ. "You want your family to be with you."

As of Wednesday morning, Michigan had reported at least 32,967 confirmed coronavirus cases and 2,700 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University. Wayne County, where Detroit is located, reported the largest cluster of cases, with 14,255, and 1,278 deaths.
