A whale washed on the beach in Palm Beach, Florida, and died Monday morning.

A sperm whale calf that was beached a mile from President Donald Trump’s Florida residence has died, wildlife officials said Monday.

Choppers flying near Mar-a-Lago found the deceased whale near the shoreline in Palm Beach, less than a mile from the president's resort residence, WPTV reported.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, the calf weighed 1,000 to 2,000 pounds. The animal was likely separated from its mother and swam to shore because it was unable to eat on its own, WPTV reported.

The FWC said sperm whales are a federally endangered species, in Florida.

Officials from the FWC were at the scene, taking photos and investigating the mammal’s death. Officials said crews will move the sperm whale and perform a necropsy to determine its cause of death.
