Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said Donald Trump has two pivotal times to make a pitch to the nation.
“One will be Thursday night when he does his acceptance speech,” DeWine said in an interview with AM 1290 News 95.7 WHIO. “Second, of course, will be the debate at Wright State University, the first debate of the campaign.”
DeWine, who like so many Ohio Republicans originally supported Governor John Kasich, said he believes it’s important to come out of the convention in a unified way. Ohio’s top cop said he believes allowing presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton to nominate federal judges “wouldn’t be good for this country.”
Still, DeWine said Trump will need to become more inclusive and reach out to Republican voters who aren’t yet behind him.
“I think he has a fair shot, frankly, at being elected president of the United States if he does that.”
