Kenneth Watkins, 33, was charged with driving while impaired and failure to maintain lane control, WTVD reported. Watkins, who teaches at Cleveland High School in Johnston County, was released on an unsecured bond, the television station reported.
A North Carolina state trooper said he was on patrol around 2:30 a.m. June 15 when he saw a blue Jeep traveling 62 mph in a 55 mph zone and weaving along the highway, WTVD reported.
The driver, Watkins, was given a sobriety test and failed, the television station reported. At the Johnston County Courthouse, Watkins registered a .11 and .10 on two Breathalyzer tests, police said. The legal limit in North Carolina is .08.
Watkins is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 8, WTVD reported.
