"All of a sudden we heard this tremendous boom...we looked over and it happened so quick,” witness Phil Hardcastle said.
Hardcastle said he was outside with his wife and son's family having a barbecue when the driver crashed into his fence, car, and a utility pole.
The driver has been identified as 60-year-old Luz Sawyer. Sawyer's husband, Stephen, said his wife blacked out behind the wheel.
"[She] remembers making the turn at the end of the street," he said. "She woke up and there's a pole there."
Sawyer remains in the hospital for an evaluation, but her family is just thankful she's alive.
"Thank God tomorrow we're getting up and going to go see her at the hospital tomorrow instead of the worst," her husband said.
