According to WFLA-TV, Robert Michael Berry, 37, of St. Petersburg, was arrested Wednesday on charges of child neglect, traveling to meet a minor and illegal cellphone use after he arrived at a Holiday Inn to meet the "teen," police said. But he soon learned the person he was meeting was actually an undercover officer, the news outlet reported.
Berry also told police that three children, ages 4 to 7, were alone at home when he left, WTSP-TV reported. Authorities said the children were not hurt.
Berry is being held at the Pinellas County Jail, according to WTSP.
