'Harambe' to make racing debut Wednesday at Churchill Downs

‘Harambe’ will make his racing debut Wednesday at Churchill Downs, the famed home of the Kentucky Derby, in Louisville, Kentucky.

It won’t be the deceased gorilla going head-to-head with thoroughbreds, but a 2-year-old colt owned by Muzeyyen Karabulut.

The horse is for sale and running in a maiden claiming race, meaning you can own ‘Harambe’ for $15,000. With the 2-year-old for sale, one wonders if Harambe was close to owner Karabulut’s heart, or he’s a master at using social media to sell a horse.

Harambe was a 17-year-old Western lowland gorilla that was fatally shot in May after a 3-year-old child fell into his pen at the Cincinnati Zoo.
