Louisiana drug bust nets nearly 400 ecstasy pills, 40 grams of meth

Police in Louisiana found nearly 400 ecstasy pills and almost 40 grams of methamphetamine in the engine compartment of a car Thursday, leading to the arrest of three people.

Kerry Mearidy Jr., 41; Chad Williams, 35; and Lisa Garreau, 43, were arrested in Bismarck and charged with possession with intent to deliver ecstasy and methamphetamine, The Bismarck Tribune reported. Mearidy was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

Bismarck police pulled over a vehicle that was speeding early Thursday, police told KFYR-TV. While searching the car, police said they found two duffel bags in the car's engine compartment. The duffel bags contained 399 ecstasy pills, 39 grams of methamphetamine and a handgun, police said.

The meth has a street value of $3,900, and the ecstasy is worth anywhere from $9,000 to $19,000, according to police.

The bonds for Mearidy and Garreau were set Thursday at $50,000 cash. Williams' bond was set at $75,000 cash.
