A malnourished dog wandering through the streets of Philadelphia on Saturday found a home and a chance to regain her health.

The dog, now called Suzyn Pupman, or Suzy, was cold and alone at 3 a.m. enduring a rainy Saturday when she saw an open door, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. The dog followed the warmth into the home of Jack Jokinen, a sports podcast host, according to the newspaper.

"She's probably been through a lot based on the shape she's in," Jokinen told KYW.

Jokinen was baffled at how the dog managed to get into his house.

"There was just a puppy in the first floor of our house with all the windows closed and locked and the front door closed and locked, back door closed and locked," Jokinen told KYW. "So it may be a magician puppy. Very freaky."

Jokinen checked his security footage and saw that after walking his other dog, he hadn’t completely shut the door. That allowed the wind to blow it open as the Jokinens slept, the Inquirer reported.

Jokinen's security camera showed that 20 minutes after Suzy entered the home, a neighbor noticed the front door was open, KYW reported.

"I yelled inside to see if somebody was there. The dog didn't even respond," neighbor Steve Griendling told KYW. "So the dog was probably just looking for someplace warm."

Jokinen and his wife were surprised at how malnourished the 9-year-old dog was, WCAU reported. The animal also needed medical attention, the television station reported.

Jokinen and his wife took Suzy to a veterinarian later Saturday, and he has been documenting her progress on Twitter.

They also decided to adopt the dog.
