A first for me: bad weather leaving Memphis airport. Boarded, but heavy winds lifted the plane off the ground and moved it. Tornado warning. Deplaned us to shelters. Crazy!

They also had to leave their bags on the plane.
Everyone who was evacuated had to go through security clearance again. All the bags that were left on the plane were to be individually matched to their owner.
Evacuated @flymemphis during tornado warning. Had to leave all our carry on luggage on plane. Damage to terminal. Now in a massive line waiting to go through security again. #MEMPHIS #memphisinternational #memphisweather @SouthwestAir #SouthwestAirlines pic.twitter.com/8kz8JYqjYw

7:24 am: The chaos continues and is arguably worse. Just found out they had to deplane a bunch of passengers. One such passenger confirmed that a tornado touched down between terminal A and B. No injuries reported thus far. pic.twitter.com/upcMHRtw5T

The evacuation was expected to cause delays and forced multiple flights to be late.
Officials said the airport sustained minor damage but that normal operations have resumed.
