A treasure hunt of sorts had its ending.
A message in a bottle was found in Georgia, and the man who found it wanted to find its original owner.
Ryan Burchett found the bottle that contained a message dated from 1981 on Little St. Simons Island in Dekalb County, Georgia.
The letter said the bottle was sent on its trip from Florida on June 10, 1981. If found, the writer, who identified himself as Douglas Stephens, asked that the finder contact him at the address listed on the back of the note.
Southeast Adventure Outfitters posted on its Facebook page that the bottle was found on Little St. Simons Island.
Southeast Adventure Outfitters updated its post saying that Stephens was found thanks to social media, but he does not have his own Facebook account. Stephens now lives in Acworth, according to the post, and will be reunited with his bottle and note.
