Agents patrolling the border said they spotted the woman as two smugglers tried to lower her to U.S. soil using a harness and hoist rope, authorities said. When authorities approached the trio, officials said the smugglers abandoned the woman.

The woman attempted to climb back over the fence and into Mexico as agents approached, but she was unable to do so, authorities said.

When agents arrived at the border fence, they said they found the woman suspended about 15 feet from the ground. The Nogales Fire Department was called to get the woman down.

She was not injured, Customs and Border Protection officials said. Authorities said she was being processed for immigration violations after the incident.
