McCormack also performed with The Roadducks, who confirmed his death Saturday on social media.

“Phil was a fabulous, singer, band mate, brother, and human being,” the Roadducks said in a statement. “Collectively we spent thousands of hours that turned into thousands of days together, creating an unbreakable bond few people are fortunate enough to ever experience.”

McCormack joined Molly Hatchet in 1996 but had performed with the group in prior years as well playing harmonica and singing. The band formed in 1975 in Jacksonville, Florida and released numerous albums with many changes to its lineup over the years.

A cause of death has not been released.
