The man, whose name police do not have, took the items and money on his first, and what turned out to be only, solo shift at the Go On Gas last month, WVIT reported.
The man also took his employment records and the store's owner said he doesn't know his short-term employee's name or any other personal information, the AP reported.
The owner said he checked in on his store remotely using an app on his phone when his new employee was supposed to be working, but the man wasn’t there.
When the owner went to check the store in person he found, 89 cartons of cigarettes, lottery tickets and cash missing, the AP reported.
The total of everything that was reported missing was $17,183, WVIT reported.
Police released an image of the man in question and are asking for help in identifying him.
