Workers are bracing fragile walls of the building and investigators are still not allowed to go through the rubble due to safety concerns, the AP reported. Investigators have used drones to survey the damage, the BBC reported.
Meantime, the cathedral's rector proposed building a temporary church on Notre Dame's plaza so those who want to worship at the cathedral can do so during restoration, according the AP. The plan got preliminary approval, but is "subject to technical restraints."
Monsignor Chauvet said, "We mustn't say, 'The cathedral is closed for five years and that's it,'" according to BBC News.
