A Pennsylvania woman whose toddler son died after a month in the hospital earlier this year is now facing charges related to his death.

According to WPXI-TV, 3-year-old Mikel Fetterman, of New Kensington, was hospitalized on March 26 and died from his injuries weeks later on April 24. Doctors told police that Mikel was covered in bruises and had a skull fracture, brain bleed and fractures in various stages of healing all over his body.

His mother's boyfriend, Keith Lilly Jr., was charged with homicide last week.

Lilly and the boy's mother, 23-year-old Teresa Fetterman, lived together, but until this week, she had not been criminally charged, WPXI reported. She now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and more.

About 1 a.m. March 26, the morning that Mikel was admitted to the hospital, someone called for help for an unresponsive child, investigators said.

Fetterman said she was sleeping while she left the boy in Lilly’s care that night, according to investigators. Lilly allegedly told officers that Mikel had fallen off the couch.

Lilly initially told police that he gave the boy Tylenol and then found him not breathing before calling 911, WPXI reported.

Doctors also said this wasn't the first time Mikel was physically injured. They told investigators there were both new and old injuries resulting from physical trauma and suspected sexual abuse, according to WPXI.

Lilly was originally arrested April 3 on charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person. That was before Mikel died.
