Police: Mom left kids alone in car while she used heroin in public bathroom

Police said two children were left alone in a car while their mother was using heroin inside a public restroom in in Washington, Pennsylvania.

A concerned worker at Advanced Auto Parts called police last week, saying a woman had been in the bathroom for more than a half hour. When she walked out, she could barely walk, police said.

Mikayla Miller, 25, was arrested after police said they found her confused and disoriented.

Police said it’s not unusual for addicts to use public restrooms.

“Most of the time, they will go in and use local business restrooms as a place to get high out of the public eye,” said detective Dan Rush. “Usually, they don’t have their children with them.”

Police said they found nine syringes and 24 stamp bags of heroin inside Miller’s purse.

Later at the jail, a bundle of heroin was found in Miller’s bra, police said.
