The backplate of the helmet can fail, posing a risk of a head injury, the CPSC reported.
They were sold in a two-toned color combination with the following UPC numbers:
- Black and white, UPC 083321545504
- Green and white, UPC 083321545511
- Navy and white, UPC 083321545525
- Red and white, UPC 083321545566
The numbers and the word Mach are written on the product tag at the time of sale. There is also a sticker inside of the helmet with “CHMAC-SR-RevA.”
They were sold from July 2018 through September 2019 for about $200.
If you have the affected helmet, you are being advised to stop using it and contact Rawlings. For size 7.5 and below, the backplate will be replaced. For size 7.5 and above helmets, owners will be issued a full refund.
