Seagull that loves London traffic camera grabs Twitter’s attention

On Monday, Transport for London Traffic News tweeted a picture of the seagull appearing to stare straight into a traffic camera just north of Blackwall Tunnel. The picture was accompanied by the caption, “Happy Monday…”

As of Tuesday afternoon, the tweet had received more than 1,600 retweets and nearly 7,000 likes. Countless people chimed in with response tweets, like “I bet he’s thinking ‘oi what sort of carnage you creating down here @TfL.’

Another tweet starring the bird was published Tuesday evening, with the caption, “Guess who’s back?!”

Finally, a tweet with a video of the seagull studying the camera and bobbing its head up and down was published Tuesday with the words, “Due to popular demand, a quick update from our reporter just north of the Blackwall Tunnel.....” That tweet has received 5,600 retweets and more than 16,000 likes.

Other tweets on the account not featuring the bird averaged one or two retweets and likes.
