The incident occurred during a practice session for Wimbledon.

Williams, 37, defeated Carla Suarez Navarro on Monday to reach the quarterfinals.

It's not the first time Williams has been hit with a five-figure fine at Wimbledon. In 2016, she was fined $10,000 for smashing her racket several times on the court during a second-round victory against Christina McHale, CNN reported.

Williams, the 11th seed in this year's tournament, has been suffering from knee problems and is only playing in her sixth tournament of 2019, the BBC reported.
