The cows were scattered along the northbound and southbound lanes, and authorities believe the animals were thrown from a truck, the FHP said in its release. The owner of the vehicle was not in the area, the Times reported.
The interstate reopened around 1 p.m., WTSP reported.
Officials with the FHP, Pasco County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are working to find the owner of the truck, the television station reported.
