Rieder, who also was a model, was known for his strength and graceful style. His videos influenced a generation of skateboarders.

Longtime friend and manager Mark Oblow told People that Rieder died peacefully, surrounded by friends and family.

Rieder grew up in Westminster, California, and began skateboarding when he was 9 years old. He turned pro at 18 for Alien Workshop, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In 2013, Rieder appeared in Vogue magazine with Alexander Wang and A$AP Rocky as part of the magazine's "Untamed Youth" feature. In the spring of 2014, he posed for a DKNY advertisement with Cara Delevigne.

Oblow told People that Rieder will never stop skateboarding — “not even in heaven.”

“I’m sure he’s up there now, surrounded by beautiful women, skateboarding!” he told the magazine. “He’s doing good up there.”
