Irene Pressley, 64, was found by a passerby near her SUV in Williamsburg County, WPDE reported. She had been a postal worker for 22 years.

United States Postal Inspection Service spokeswoman Jessica Adams said Pressley was on her mail delivery route when she was killed, according to WCSC.

It is not clear whether Pressley was inside a mail carrier's vehicle when she was killed.

Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight said an autopsy is being performed to determine Pressley's cause of death, WPDE reported.

Lt. Daryel Moyd, with the Williamsburg County Sheriff's Office, said the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are helping in the investigation, the television station reported.
