Park officials hosted a dedication ceremony for the new theme land Wednesday with cameos by famous "Star Wars" characters from Chewbacca to R2-D2 and BB-8.
Galaxy's Edge will officially open Thursday. It is a land that will allow fans to see "the fastest ship in the galaxy," the Millennium Falcon first hand and step into the cockpit to operate the spacecraft during an interactive experience.

Another ride, Rise of the Resistance is set to open in December and Disney Imagineers said they are putting the finishing touches on it.
Part of the ride takes visitors to the deck of a star destroyer, where they encounter the First Order.
“By far, it is the most immersive amazing storytelling experience we ever delivered here at Walt Disney World. We can’t wait for our guest to experience it Dec. 5,” senior project coordinator Greg Johnson said.
The California version of Galaxy's Edge opened in May.
The new lands are not the only "Star Wars" events happenings this year. "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" opens in theaters this December.
