According to KATU-TV, the deadly incident occurred about 6 p.m. near the intersection of Graham Road and the Historic Columbia River Highway in Troutdale. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said the teen, whose name was not released, died at the scene.
In a statement, Union Pacific offered condolences to the victim's loved ones and urged people to avoid train tracks, KOIN-TV reported.
"We plead with parents, students and photographers to not take photos on or near the tracks," the company said.
The investigation is ongoing, officials told the news outlets.
