Jayne Bean, 42, was charged with criminal mischief over $30,000 in connection with the March 30 incident, according to the Wichita Falls Police Department.

According to an arrest affidavit, a man called police when he discovered his gas meter had been taken, the Wichita Falls Times Record reported. The man told police he called Atmos, the area's gas company, and officials told him Bean had called to report the smell of gas at his residence, the newspaper reported.

The meter was removed because of Bean's statement, the Times Record reported.

Police later determined there was never a smell of gas, and that Bean had the gas turned off to harass the man, KCBD reported.

The victim also told police he had an emergency restraining order against Bean at the time of the incident, the Times Record reported.

Authorities obtained audio from the service call on March 30 to the victim's home and determined Bean had made the telephone call, the newspaper reported.
