Vandals target historic tunnel in Daniel Boone National Forest

U.S. Forest Service officials are investigating acts of vandalism at the Daniel Boone National Forest in Kentucky.

Officials said the historic Nada Tunnel was spray-painted, WLEX reported. The old railroad tunnel was built more than 100 years ago to transport timber from the Red River Gorge, the television station reported.

Tim Eling, the U.S. Forest Service public affairs officer, said vandals target the Daniel Boone Forest more than 100 times annually, WLEX reported.

“We’re trying to bring attention to the vast majority of visitors who are repulsed by this and don’t like to see vandalism and hope that they can convince people ... that this is not a good thing, or if they see something, report it,” Eling told the television station.
