A young New Hampshire boy is being praised for calling 911 after a 5-year-old climbed to the top of a tree and got stuck at the top, nearly 25 feet in the air.

And the quick-thinking boy later met his heroes at the fire department.

Firefighters said they've never seen a child climb a tree that high. They're now praising that boy who made the quick decision to call first responders.

"I was nervous seeing him all the way up there!" said 12-year-old Kenny Heard.

Panic set in on the playground as a group of children watched this 5-year-old shimmy his way up a tall pine tree.

"He kept climbing up until he hit the top, and then that’s when we started to hear him scream," Kenny said.

"Higher and higher and higher," he said, recounting the boy's climb to the top.

Kenny then heard the boy yell for help. That's when he put his nerves on the back burner and made the call to police.

"I got my phone out and me and Italia called 911," he said.

Firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue 5-year-old Kyler.

His mother says her little boy has a unique ability to scale trees in just a matter of minutes.

"I just keep climbing branches and climbing, until I get tired," said Kyler.

But this time he may have gotten nervous. He says some of the branches he used to climb up may have snapped, causing him some concern.

"Some of the branches fell," he said.

Firefighters thanked Kenny for making the brave call to first responders, and Kyler has a message for everyone involved in the rescue.

"Thank you!" Kyler said.

Kyler's mother said she's already caught him trying to climb a few trees since that day, and from now on, she's going to keep a closer eye.
