"This is a horrible thing to have to say over Instagram but we know many of you were expecting to see Emily today and this is the only way to contact you all at once," the post said.
“Emily was involved in an accident yesterday and passed away. We all loved her to bits and she will never be forgotten. She has touched so many lives it's hard to imagine things without her. She was a very special person.”
The London Metropolitan Police confirmed in a press release that a woman in her 30s was killed in a crash between an electric scooter and a truck and pronounced dead at the scene from her injuries.
Although the police did not identify the woman, The Guardian reported Hartridge, 35, was the victim and the first person to die in a fatal crash involving an e-scooter in Britain.
Hartridge first took off on YouTube some seven years ago with her "Ten Reasons Why …" videos which looked at life in a humorous way, The Guardian reported.
Hartridge, who was also an actress, posted her last Instagram message Friday, responding to a troll who criticized her body and asked if she was a man.
"I have never adhered to societal norms and I am certainly not going to start now," she said.
