New University of Cincinnati president starts first day on the job

The University of Cincinnati’s new president picked a fitting date for his first day on the job— Presidents’ Day.

Neville G. Pinto, who was named UC’s president in December, started the job there today.

Being named UC’s 30th president was something of a homecoming for Pinto as he served as a faculty member in the department of chemical engineering at UC for 26 years.

Before heading back to UC, Pinto served as acting president and professor of chemical engineering at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, according to UC. From May 2015 to July 2016, he served as interim executive vice president and provost at the University of Louisville.
