Officer injured in crash involving Monroe police cruiser, truck

UPDATE @ 2:51 p.m.

The Monroe police vehicle that was involved in a crash today was stopped and struck in the rear by a truck, which caused the cruiser to go onto private property, said Sgt. Chris Crisafi of the Hamilton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. 

The driver of the truck, a 46-year-old woman, was transported to Atrium Medical Center for treatment.

The officer was transported to West Chester Hospital for treatment. There was no update available on their conditions.

INITIAL REPORT

A Monroe police officer was injured while en route to a suspicious person call this afternoon after being involved in a crash with a truck in the 6100 block of Hamilton-Middletown Road (Ohio 4).

Police said the officer and the driver of the truck were both injured and transported to area hospitals.

Southbound Ohio 4 is closed at Apple Knoll Lane due to the crash and is expected to be closed for an unknown amount of time. Police suggest using Todhunter Road to Salzman Road as a detour. Truck traffic should use Yankee Road to Salzman Road.
