Thoughts about Baltimore

Have you been following the news in Baltimore from the last few days? Most likely, you have.

It became the largest city in the country where large-scale protests and riots broke out in response to a situation that has happened in numerous other American cities and metropolitan areas — namely, police killing African-American men who are often unarmed or in their custody. Many of these incidents have been captured on cellphone video and made widely public, which has stirred strong public response and plenty of important conversation.

On Sunday’s Ideas & Voices page, we captured a selection of essays and opinions on the Baltimore situation — its social and economic underpinnings, its root causes, the politics involved, and how society might react to this problem. If you missed the page, you can find it in the Opinion section of myDaytonDailyNews.com.
