TODAY’S MODERATOR: Yup, get ready for flying cars

We've been talking a lot lately about distracted driving and self-driving cars — but are we ready yet for flying cars? It will come as no surprise to anybody who remembers the old "Back to the Future" movies that none other than DeLorean Aerospace is working on one.

Wired magazine writes about the design being pushed by company CEO Paul DeLorean, nephew of John DeLorean. "He plans to build a two-seat vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) personal air transport vehicle (what the rest of the world calls a flying car). That moves him well out of sci-fi movie cliche territory and into the company of Uber, Airbus, Darpa, Larry Page, and a ton of startups," Wired reports.

Opinion: A solar eclipse is most spectacular thing you will ever see

"Experts working in the field say that, as far-fetched as flying cars sound, the confluence of new lightweight materials, better batteries, and sophisticated computer controls means these visions aren't unrealistic." The magazine says the 20-foot-long, all electric craft could be ready in a few years; government certification for flying commuters should be interesting.
