Red Cross teams with Trotwood FD to install free alarms

The American Red Cross is teaming with local fire departments to install free smoke alarms in the Dayton area this weekend.

In conjunction with the Red Cross, the Trotwood Fire Department is installing free smoke alarms until 3 p.m., and is giving free fire safety education in homes.

The event is scheduled for Trotwood, but the Red Cross installs smoke alarms anywhere. At least one is installed on each level of a home, and they are equipped with 10-year batteries.  Residents can call 937 221-7540 to make an appointment.

To donate to the Red Cross and help provide smoke alarms, call 1-800-REDCROSS or text REDCROSS to 90999.
