Region’s bike trail gains more support as part of national route

The inclusion of the bike trail that stretches throughout much of Southwest Ohio on a national route is getting more support.

The city of West Carrollton is set Tuesday night to approve a measure supporting The Great Miami River Trail's designation as part of U.S. Bicycle Route 25.

Route 25 is a stretch of trail that travels through Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan running north from the Cincinnati area and through Dayton and Toledo.

The Great Miami River Trail has been designated part of the national route. The local trail a 57-mile paved path from Franklin to Piqua that passes through West Carrollton and several Five Rivers MetroParks locations, according to the park organization’s website.
