Run on reality music show ends for area trio The Bundys

All three are graduates of Wyoming High School and Miami University in Oxford.

Katey told the Journal-News after Monday's performance it was "such a crazy night, but so much fun." On Tuesday, she expressed her disappointment about the end but joy being on the show.

“So bummed, but so happy at the same time,” she texted.

Moments after they were knocked out, they tweeted, “What an amazing journey!”

The Bundys, the first trio ever to perform on the show, made it onto the show after coaches Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson wanted them on their team, but The Bundys chose to be on Clarkson’s team.

“Kelly right off the bat wanted to tackle the group dynamic,” Ryan said on why they chose the first winner of American Idol. “So just between that and what she was saying — and how excited she was — we just got really excited about it in the moment.”

They won their Battle Round, teaming up with 14-year-old New Yorker Mikaela Astel. They performed Eva Cassidy’s “Songbird,” a favorite of The Bundys.

“The Voice” is a national singing competition with four recording artists serving as coaches. Contestants are eliminated after the various rounds. The winning act wins a cash prize and a recording contract, but the show has catapulted the careers of many artists who fell just short of winning.

The Bundys told the Journal-News they wanted to appear on the show in hopes it would get them out their "road rut." The trio has a 12-song album titled Louisiana Avenue (2015) and a six-song album titled Before I Go (2017) and believed "The Voice" was the opportunity they needed.
