Several arrests during Butler County OVI checkpoints

Two sobriety checkpoints Thursday night in Butler County resulted in several arrests.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Butler County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Butler County OVI Task Force conducted a sobriety checkpoint between 9 and 11:30 p.m. Thursday on Cincinnati-Dayton Road just north of Ohio 129 in Liberty Twp.

During that checkpoint, officers checked 818 vehicles. Six drivers arrested for OVI, two were arrested for not having a valid driver’s license, and one driver was charged with possession of marijuana, according to Lt. Clint Arnold, Hamilton post commander of the OSHP.

The Butler County OVI Task Force also conducted an OVI checkpoint the same night in Oxford in the 5000 block of College Corner Pike (U.S. 27).

Officers from Oxford, Oxford Twp. and Miami University police departments checked 173 vehicles from 10 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., and seven vehicles were diverted for further investigation.

That resulted in two citations for no driver’s license, and one citation for an expired license plate, according to Pete Reising of the Butler County OVI Task Force.

Both checkpoints were held in conjunction with nearby saturation patrols.
